My top 5 LinkedIn posts might surprise you

I recently ran the numbers on my top LinkedIn posts of all time to figure out what you all want more tips on.

Raising capital? Finding your true fans? Authentic leadership?
Turns out you like something else…

My Top 5 linkedin posts with the highest reach

  1. Wall Street’s love note to me - and my reply

  2. Telling that voice in my head to back the f off

  3. The tragedy of forgetting to put on my oxygen mask first

  4. Team Shirts at the Boys Club soccer camp

  5. White knights gotta retire too

These posts all had tens of thousands of views more than my average post gets. The #1 post had 4X the reach.

I ran all the data. It had nothing to do with hashtags or day of the week or time of day. They all had images in them, but so did tons of my other posts that didn’t “perform” as well. Only one of them is featured on my LinkedIn page.

So what’s the theme?

They are all very personal posts. What?? (I know. I was surprised too. I mean, I know that people like real talk, but I wouldn’t have guessed these would be my top posts.)

If you’re looking for permission to be authentic on LinkedIn, to get personal, to share your 5 to 9 (not just your 9 to 5)… this is it.

Don’t tell yourself that:

  • your topic is too Facebook-y

  • followers only want to hear about your 9 to 5

  • people want your perfect

Define your signature content pillars and get posting about BOTH your 9 to 5 and your 5 to 9.
